Connect Your Integrations

Connect your PSA, bring in your clients and their devices, and finish your general settings, with a 5-minute walkthrough.

For admins. Needs the Administrator or Manager role and a paid subscription. Integrations aren't available on the Free plan.

Your integrations bring in your clients and their technology, so nobody has to type them in. Start with your PSA, so it stays the source of your client list.

Before you start

Create API keys for your integration. Each integration's article shows how, starting with Configuring Your PSA Integration.

What your integrations bring in

Each integration fills a different part of your account:

  • Your PSA: companies, contacts and devices (your PSA calls them configurations). ConnectWise PSA also brings in tickets and agreements; with other PSAs you add agreements by hand.

  • IT Glue, Hudu, Datto RMM or NinjaOne: devices and documentation for your clients.

  • Microsoft 365 (M365): each client's users, licenses and MFA status, connected one client at a time.

  • Warranty Service: purchase and warranty dates, looked up by manufacturer and serial number.

Connecting your PSA

The steps below use ConnectWise PSA. The other integrations work much the same way, with fewer tabs.

  1. Go to Settings > System > Integrations, click Add Integration and pick your PSA.

  2. Enter the details from your API keys and click Add Integration.

  3. On the Company Types, Markets and Company Statuses tabs, in that order, tick sync and click Save Mapping. This matches your PSA's lists to the ones in Strategy Overview: values with the same name match on their own, and for the rest you can create a new value, map it to an existing one or leave it out.

Bringing in your clients

  1. In Settings > System > General > Groups, click the group your whole team should see, such as Clients, tick Integration Group and save. New companies from your PSA land in it. Set Up Your Team covers groups in full.

  2. Back in the integration, on the Companies tab, tick sync and click Import Companies.

  3. Filter Types to Client, tick the clients you want and click Import. You don't have to bring in every client on day one.

  4. Click Create UnMapped to add every client you ticked as a new company in one go, then click Save Mapping.

Important: Your clients aren't created until you click Save Mapping.

Bringing in their devices

Your PSA keeps devices as configurations, each with a type such as Laptop or Firewall. Strategy Overview sorts them into Technology Types such as Workstations and Servers, so every client looks the same wherever the data came from. Several configuration types can share one Technology Type: Laptop and Managed Workstation both go into Workstations. A configuration type without a Technology Type comes in as a standalone group, so start with Technology Types.

  1. On the Configurations tab, tick sync.

  2. On Configuration Types, click Auto-Suggest, check the matches, tick the ones you want and click Save.

The Warranty and purchase date column ticks itself for each type you sync, and saving turns on the Warranty Service.

  3. On Fields Selection, check which PSA field fills each Strategy Overview field. Where it's available, the eye icon shows values from your own data. Where two fields could fit, like Os Info and Os Type, pick the one your team keeps up to date, then click Save Mapping.

  4. On Configurations Selection, leave Statuses empty and click Import Configurations.

Tip: Leaving Statuses empty brings in every device. A device deleted in your PSA stays in Strategy Overview, marked Inactive, so you can hide it with your other inactive devices.

  5. Turn on Contacts and Tickets if you want them, then click Sync. Not every integration has both.

Important: Keep each type of configuration coming from one integration. If your network gear lives in IT Glue, connect IT Glue separately and bring those configurations in from there. Strategy Overview doesn't merge the same device from two integrations, so it would show twice. The Technology Module covers how to choose.

Filling in warranty dates

The Warranty Service looks up purchase and warranty dates by manufacturer and serial number on a schedule, so both need to be filled in on the devices in your PSA. Sync on the Warranty Service's page in Settings > System > Integrations runs it now. Some vendors, such as Dell and Lenovo, update quickly, while others, such as HP, Asus and Acer, take longer. The details are in Warranty Service Integration.

Bringing in agreements

Agreements track each client's contracts and recurring costs, whether they pay you or another vendor, so you have a full inventory of what they spend on an ongoing basis, whatever the term. They feed the Agreements Part on your Reports.

  • ConnectWise PSA: on the integration's Agreements tab, tick Enable Agreements Integration, pick at least one of your Agreement Types, and click Import Agreements.

  • Any other PSA: add agreements by hand in the Agreements module with Agreement. Include in Budget is on by default; untick it for any you don't want in the client's budget.

Connecting M365

M365 brings in each client's users, licenses and MFA status, and it connects one client at a time, because each client has its own Microsoft tenant.

  1. Go to Settings > System > Integrations, click Add Integration and pick M365.

  2. Click Connect on the client, enter their Tenant ID and sign in as a Global Admin of that tenant to grant consent.

Follow M365 Integration closely for the Entra consent steps. There's a second consent step too, and a missed step is the usual reason a connection fails.

Note: Last Signed In needs Entra ID P1 or P2 in the client's tenant, plus the audit log consent in the M365 integration steps.

Finishing your general settings

Settings > System > General is the place to finish setup. Work through its tabs from left to right:

  1. Company Information: fill in your company's details.

  2. Localization: check the culture, which sets your currency, plus your date format and time zone.

  3. Groups: these decide who sees which clients. You'll set up the rest in Set Up Your Team.

  4. Markets, Types and Company Statuses: anything with your integration's icon comes from your PSA, so leave it. Delete what you don't use.

Each of these lists does more than label your clients. Company types marked Prospect stay off the Stack and the Schedule, statuses with Hide Company ticked keep those companies out of view, and markets can be put on Assessment groups, so questions for one vertical only show for clients in that market.

Good to know

  • Your PSA syncs nightly. Sync on the integration queues an update sooner.

  • In Technology, the gear in the menu at the top of the list opens Edit Groups, where you can drag sections into a different order and change their colors.

Common questions

Do I need to connect every integration on day one?

You don't need to connect every integration on day one. Start with your PSA, then add IT Glue, Hudu, your RMM or M365 as you need them. Each has its own article in the Integrations collection.

Why does the same device show up twice?

The same device shows up twice when two integrations both bring it in. Strategy Overview doesn't merge records across integrations, so keep each type of configuration on one integration.
