For admins. Needs the Administrator or Manager role. The custom domain and email need a paid plan.
Branding makes Strategy Overview and your Reports look like your own, for your team and for your clients. It all lives in Settings > System > Branding, on three tabs: General, Custom Domain and Custom Email. Your name, logos and colors take a few minutes. The domain and email take a little DNS work, so you'll want whoever manages your DNS and email on hand.
Your name, logos and colors
The General tab sets what your team and clients see on screen and on your Reports:
App Name: the name your users see in the top left and in the subject of the welcome email they get.
Company Logo: shows on your PDF Reports' cover page and in the emails we send for you.
App Logo: the square icon in the top left.
Favicon: the icon in the browser tab, as an .ico or .png file.
Primary Brand Color: the color of buttons and highlights throughout Strategy Overview, plus links and Part icons in your PDFs.
Icon Color: the color of the icons and the navigation menu.
Font: the font your team sees.
Your own domain
A custom domain lets your team and your clients sign in at an address like app.yourmsp.com instead of app.strategyoverview.com. You only need one hostname, such as app.yourmsp.com or strategy.yourmsp.com.
On the Custom Domain tab, click ADD DATA next to MAIN APP.
Enter the full hostname, such as app.yourmsp.com, without https:// or a path, and click Add.
Expand the MAIN APP row to see two DNS records: a CNAME and a TXT. In your DNS host, create both. The Value column is the record's host or name, and Data is what goes in its value or target.
Back in Strategy Overview, click Verify.
The status shows Verification in progress while the domain is checked. You only need to click Verify once: you and your account's Administrators get an email when it finishes, saying whether it worked and, if not, why. When it's done, the row shows Verified and each DNS record shows Authenticated. If it failed, the usual cause is DNS that hasn't propagated yet, which can take longer with some DNS hosts, so check both records exist. Give it some time, then click Verify again.
Once the domain is verified, add a Login Wallpaper on the same tab so your sign-in page looks like yours. Use an image of at least 960 x 1080 pixels, up to 5 MB, and check how your sign-in page looks. Then have your team bookmark and sign in at the new address, so they see what your clients see. Your domain is also the first step if you want single sign-on: once it shows Verified, ask for a person in the chat to set it up with you.
Your own email
A custom email sends your user invitations from your address, such as [email protected], instead of ours. Clients notice it most when you invite them to the portal, since the invitation comes from your MSP. Set up your domain first.
Create a distribution list in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, such as [email protected]. It has to accept email from outside your organization, since the confirmation comes from us. Add your admins so they see replies and bounces.
On the Custom Email tab, click ADD DATA, enter a Sender Name (From) such as "Example MSP" and the list's address, and click Add.
Open the Custom Email Confirmation email sent to the list and click Confirm custom email. The status changes to Verified. If it doesn't arrive, check junk or quarantine, or use Resend email.
Once the address is confirmed, the row shows three DNS records for your email domain: a mail CNAME and two DKIM records. Create them at your DNS host, then click Verify.
Invitations switch to your address once both checks pass. To test it, invite a user with a personal email address: the invitation should come from your address with your logo.
Tip: A DMARC policy on your email domain set to Quarantine or Reject helps your emails land in inboxes rather than spam.
Good to know
You can set up one custom email per account.
Common questions
Why doesn't my sign-in page show my login wallpaper?
Your login wallpaper only shows when people sign in at your verified custom domain. Check that the domain shows as verified on the Custom Domain tab, and sign in at that address.
Why are invitations still coming from Strategy Overview?
Invitations come from your own address only after the address is confirmed and its DNS records are verified. Check each DNS record shows Authenticated, add any DNS records that are missing, and click Verify again.
