For admins and team leads setting up a new account. Most steps need the Administrator or Manager role.
Welcome to Strategy Overview. This guide gets your account ready for your first client meeting. When you're done, you'll have your clients and their technology in Strategy Overview, your team invited, and your Report template set up the way you run your meetings. Most teams finish it in about an hour.
There are seven steps. Each step has the written instructions, and some have a short video. You can do them in order or come back to one later. If you'd rather ask than read, anything in this guide can be answered in the chat in the bottom right. Just ask our team.
Before you start
You're going to want these in place before the first step:
A paid subscription. Integrations aren't available on the Free plan.
Someone with admin access to your PSA, DNS and email, for the integration and branding steps.
A champion: one person who owns the rollout, learns Strategy Overview inside and out and runs your first meetings.
Optional: your onboarding session booked. We'll go through your setup with you and help you avoid the common mistakes. Book it here.
Set up your account
Connect Your Integrations, Brand Your Account and Set Up Your Team are for an admin. Configure the Report, Set Up Hardware Lifecycle Budgets, Set Up Your Goal and Initiative Templates and Set Up Your Schedule are best done with whoever leads your client meetings.
Connect Your Integrations: bring in your clients, their devices and agreements, then connect Microsoft 365 for each client.
Configure the Report: rename it, name your client lead role (vCIO, Account Manager or whatever you call it), set up the cover page and executive summary, and pick the Assessment tags you'll start with.
Set Up Hardware Lifecycle Budgets: set a lifespan and replacement cost for each kind of device, so every device gets a replacement date, a budget and a grade without anyone typing them in.
Brand Your Account: add your logo and colors, then set up your own web address and the email address your invitations come from.
Set Up Your Team: put your clients in groups, turn on your modules, then invite your users and give them access to the right clients.
Set Up Your Goal and Initiative Templates: what Goals and Initiatives are, and the templates your team starts from.
Set Up Your Schedule: set who leads each client and how many Reports you plan with each one per year.
Once you're set up
Everyone who builds or presents Reports should read Using Strategy Overview before their first client meeting.
